Occasionally, a moment of sublimity happens when Leona plays a recording of Tschaikovsky's "Souvenir Melancolique" on the juke box: it was her brother's song, she recalls. Leona talks over the recording, and Williams's language dances with the music... Every person, Williams was able to recognize, even through the haze of fear, bereavement, homophobic brainwashing, professional disappointment, and alcohol, is a 'craft', invested with the beauty of Tschaikovsky's wordless 'souvenir' ('memory')
NOTE:
The music was actually composed by me, Joe Gianono and I am completely honored to be mistake for Tschaikovsky, a composer whose music far exceeds the description of sublime and who’s presence on this earth was a gift to all mankind forever and ever.

Leona (Linda S. Nelson), a beautician from a trailer park, is marking her gay brother’s Death Day, by playing Heifetz on Monk’s jukebox, a soulful 'Serenade' that her brother had performed on his violin. The music bonds her to her grief, so she can feel it.
NOTE:
The music was composed by Joe Gianono and not played by Heifetz. The actual player, Joe Gianono is quite flattered.
